As a guy into sports, I don't see any problem with a wife or GF stepping out with her friends if she wants while the guy is watching his favorite team. In fact, I would say she is entitled to the same "downtime" as the guy. You may want to let him know you are stepping out so he is aware, of course. You know how engrossed we guys get in those games! ;-)
Also depends though on if you have a family. If there are kids involved, I think you should agree that you would watch the kids while he gets his time, and then he should do the same when you have something to watch or do.
Relationships should be about sharing and caring. Make sure you both are getting what you are looking for in the relationship or you may resent that you have to stay home while he sits back and enjoys the game.

This answer is not so easy as it appears. Is the guy just watching a random game or does it have special significance to him? Does he have friends over watching the game or is he watching it by himself? If the game is totally random and he has no special attachment to either team, your leaving may not be a bad idea. If, for example, the game involves his favorite team, he may enjoy spending the time with you and hoping that you might come to share his passion. Then again, there is the school of thought that he might want the privacy to yell and scream at the television if his team isn't doing as well as he would like. It really all depends on the guy. The easiest way to get the answer to your question would be to ask the guy involved.

Ok here is how I work it out.
If Notre Dame is playing then yeah she has to watch and cheer and cuss and yell at the neighbors and do all the other stupid stuff I do when watching a ND game. If not ND but any other game I am watching she can do what she wants college football for me is something I watch all day Saturday, so unless its ND then she doesnt have to watch.

Good Q: Unless it is a game you want to watch, you have no obligation to watch it. Just as I would never sit down and watch a soap opera. It's just not my thing.
Take a nap, go shopping, read a book... do what ever makes you feel good!

No, just go and shop and have a good time with your friends while he sits and waits until the last minute to get people gifts. This way everyone gets their way.

No, it is not necessary that you stay with your guy while he is watching a game. However, there is nothing more rewarding than sharing your passion with the one you love.

They don't have to stay. If they want to be with friends, they can. They can go out and do what ever they want.
