There are many kinds of fish you can keep in there, just as long as the temperature is stable. Goldfish are not suitable fish for a 30 gallon tank, due to their eventual large size. Here are some of the fish you can keep in an unheated tank (most of these do best in groups of six or more, keep that in mind):

White Clouds
Zebra Danios
Leopard Danios
Kyathit Danios
Denisoni Barbs
Arulius Barbs
Dwarf Barbs
Rosy Barbs
Ticto Barbs
Dojo Loaches
Blind Cave Tetras
Buenos Aires Tetras
Bloodfin Tetras
Peppered Corys
Bearded Corys
Rubbernose Plecos
Platies
Mollies
Guppies

...And then there's more I can't think of off the top of my head. The majority of the fish on this list are common in stores and relatively inexpensive. Do some research on them and see which species would be best for your tank (keep in mind most of these are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of six or more).

Hope that helps.

Goldfish, white clouds (a type of minnow), and danios can usually handle cold water. Most danios stay fairly small and like to school, so you could have several different types (minimum of 3 for a school) in a 30 gallon aquarium. However, since you will be so limited by not having a heater, invest the money (you can get a good heater for $10-$20) and get one so that you can have a more varied and colorful tank.

Not many kinds...you really need a heater even for fresh water!
Go to your local pet store or find a heater on e-bay! But you need a heater!

That depends on if the tank is going to be kept in a heated enviorment or not. Check at your local pet store.

About all u can do w/o a heater is goldfish. With a heater you can do tropicals like Neons, Barbs, Angelfish...etc. Heaters aren't that expensive, and if it were me, I'd get one.
