The TORRENT file is just a file that keeps track of all the bits and pieces of a file. ( pun intended )

The actual sites do NOT have the files you want, just the torrent files you can use to retrieve them.

Many LEGITIMATE places use Torrents for their downloads. Most LINUX distributions do. Places like The Pirate Bay and Torrentspy do not sort out the torrents they have.

Downloading is NOT ILLEGAL.

I use Azureus - bit coment won't work on most torrent sites because of a continuing security issue. So download and install Azureus.

Now go to a site like www.torrentspy.com and select a torrent to download. Depending on your browser it might try to "open with" or it might download it automatically to your computer. Open with Azaureus and it will begin automatically.

If you are downloading movies or videos I recommend VLC as a player - it handles codec issues. Hope this helps.
