The effect of the Evangelical Christian vote has been greatly exaggerated. They just are not the determining factor in elections.
Bush has always been aware of that, do you think he would have allowed out the information that he calls them names if he thought he needed their votes? He thought that there were enough ignoramuses registered for his people to win, but he was wrong.

They voted 3 to 1 Republican, but for the Democrats to get 25% of the evangelical vote is a HUGE increase for them. I think some evangelicals were realizing they were being lied to and used by the GOP in a very cynical manner. The GOP trotted out gay marriage in 2004, promised the moon, and then made ABSOLUTELY NO ATTEMPT to honor their promises.
And I think there is a growing awareness amongst evangelicals that they have been led slightly astray by some of their leaders. Jesus preached a message of helping the less fortunate, which is exactly what the Democrats are all about. But somehow, the evangelicals had become a crazed group obsessing on gay marriage, and the such. It's clear now, that some of the evangelical leaders were simply dealing with their own demons, and not really focusing on what Jesus was all about.

I figure they must have but I think CNN said that only 20% of Republicans voted. So maybe they were the ones who didn't vote. Perhaps they were also upset about the way Iraq has been going but didn't want to vote for the Democrats, so they just stayed home. (You would think that since they were such a big deal in the last election, the news people would have mentioned them.)

Listening to NPR and progressive talk, we learned that they did. We also learned that people voted their anti-human adjenda but the same people voted democratic candidates. We learned too that all congress persons engaged in scandals and those supporting G. Bush lost.
