If you want to make it simple, insert the cd-rw into your burner , right click the files you are looking to add to the cd and hit "send to" and then your cd burner drive ( example e:/). A lil icon will come up in your taskbar reading "files are waiting to be burned to cd" click that and you will be able to write them to your cd

If you want to use it like a floppy disk to store data files, you will have to use CD/RWs and format them with the software that came with your burner. Each burner comes with its own unique software. You should be aware that if you want to take the CD/RW to another computer, the other PC will not be able to read it without the "reader" program that you will probably have to download from the manufacturer of your burner.

Save yourself a lot of aggravation and invest in some flashdrives.

If the disc session was closed after first writing to the disc, you'll have to reformat it using the CD writer software you have. That will make it writeable again, but you will lose what's already been written to it.
