With the seriousness of things at the moment. Do we need a New Tory party at the moment to form a credible government?
What I mean by New Tory is to bring back some of the more creditable people such as Ken Clarke, Michael Portillo, John Major, Michel Howard, ect. These guys are experienced and old school and maybe what we need to shrug off all this spin and political correctness and sort this mess out.
What do you think?

DC: And you think what we have now is any better? Record spending on NHS. But the system is collapsing completely now. Record Taxes. But where is the money going? Not into schools or education. Students now have record debts. Growing unemployment as companies are scared away from investment here due to higher taxes and human rights laws.
What’s wrong with TAX cuts? If done in the right way it has been shown to increase the revenue collected by the government as it generates high employment and motivation for people to succeed. At least when they left office the economy was in great shape. Lucky old Gordon.

I think we could do without the Tories, full stop. Whatever you might think of the current lot, the Tories you mentioned were without doubt part of one of the most damaging governments the UK has seen. I seem to recall a number of them serving time at Her Majesties pleasure too.
I see worrying things in this current government, but please, please, please do not let the Tories back in again.

Probably. But NEW doesn't necessarily mean 'improved'. It more likely means 'same old tosh dressed up' , or 'different angle on current spin'.
Whe you look deeply into the strategies of most governments over the past 40 years their main aim has been the same - to rake in as much money as possible from taxes - don't believe the tories cut taxes, because they did what all governments do and that is give sweeteners in order to win elections, and then took it back by some other method later. Labout did the same - just look at the tax credits system - shambolic.
What I've come to understand about politics and politicians - and you might call me cynical - is this:
ALL POLITICIANS ARE SELF CENTRED, GREEDY AND IN IT FOR ONE THING - YOUR HARD EARNED CASH.

Quite simply, no.
What we need in Britain is a new political Weltanschuung in which the legal rights of the capitalist to limit the life and liberty of the majority are outlawed.
Any Tory, whether new or old, is incapable of understanding that people work best together when they have a fair, equitable and mutually agreed reason to cooperate with each other.
The problems faced in Britain today are caused by Tory ideology, and perpetuated by Labour because they too lack the political will and know-how to effect the changes needed to make Britain Great once again.
Rather curiously, however, is that some of the laws and Directives imposed on Britain by the European Parliament, European Commission and case law/decisions of the European Court of Justice have actually went some way toward improving our lot in Briatin - and in a far better way than any homegrown government past and present. The problem in this particular area however is that very often Britain doesn't like having to implement EU Directives in our national legislation. An example of this is the utter mess Britain made of employment law when they reluctantly complied with an EU Directive by passing TUPE (the Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment) Regulations back in the early 1980's. But I digress slightly.
With respect, your question is typical of the type of person who pines for the bad old days when Government represented the interests of only a small minority of the population - namely, the rich and powerful - while the majority are educated only in the various ways to serve them.
For Britain to be Great once again, we need to shake off those outdated attitudes and head for true progress by teaching our children their role in liberating capital for the good of the people (rather than for reason of greed and self-interest).
I'm sure, once you "see the light", that following such a political route would decrease and remove many of the disastrous and expensive societal ills inherently created by the current system.

Same old, same old I'm afraid. There are only two political party's in this country, every 15-20 years or so swapping the balance of power between them, taking between 5-10 years to "clear up" each others mess.No-one else gets a look in because no-one else has the capability of running this country of ours like the labour party,or the Tory's-a capability then misused and abused in certain areas by them, for their term in office, and sometimes for their own benefit. As an avid "Question Time"-(BBC1-THURSDAY'S-1035pm) addict,i am constantly amazed by EX parliamentarians,of both party's,who give good quality, concise, practical answers to questions posed by the audience that they never did whilst in office,go figure that one!!No,I'm sorry but we need another party in this country of ours,a party for the people,a party who can act upon the courage of their convictions-and it isn't labour or the Tory's.

I think you'll find we have a 'New Tory' party...it's called the BNP and is the only party that will stand up for normal hard working British people and give them what they want....The stripping away of 'political correctness' less immigration and most importantly our right to freedom of speech in our own country!! I believe the men you mention above would have wanted the same things along with the majority of us! Unfortunately for them their 'leader'(And I use the term lightly) has led them to become a subsidiary of the Labour party......What good does that do for this country?!?!!

I think we need a Government that actually listens to the people. Afterall, thats what democracy is meant to be about. Under the Tories this nation didnt want the Falklands war, under Labour we certainly didnt want the Iraq war. One other thing that really needs to be taken into account also is that one parties ****-ups take time to be sorted when a new party comes into power, yet the new party always gets flak over how things are going when they need TIME.

Some people have a very short memory span.
Have you forgotten already that during 18 years in office , the abovementioned group underinvested by several hundreds of billions in hospitals, primary health care, social services, law-and-order, schools, universities, vocational training, scientific primary research.?? Have you forgotten already???
A war-scarred, third-world country like Sierra leone in West Africa has had a statutory mimimum wage for those with a General Certificate of Education for ages. Yet Great Britain, the world's 4th or 5th richest country (after the US, Japan, Germany & France), only had a Parliamentary bill to introduce a Minimum Wage a few years ago. And even then, the Bill was bitterly opposed every step of the way by the Conservative Party who refused to consider the human angle and whose only thought was for the profit figures of their friends in Big Business who would have to start paying their workers something like a living wage. ie stop paying starvation wages.
New Tory??!!??
New tory?!?
I'm laughing too hard to take your question seriously.
They paln to introduce tax cuts for their high-earning friends that will translate directly into nurses, paramedics, ambulance drivers, teachers and policemen joining the unemployment queue.
Is that what you want for Britain?? Is it???
