Really depends on your age, interests and aptitudes. If you don't have any job experience, you could consider restaurant work (waiting on tables, bussing or dishwashing). Remember that you do have to be of legal age to serve alcohol to customers. Overall, working in a restaurant isn't that bad of a first gig ... you usually get to have some fun, make some friends, acquire some useful transferrable employment skills (eg: customer service, teamwork and cash) and can potentially earn some pretty good coin through tips.

If we are talking with the assumption that you hold a Uni degree i would say a good Job would be one were you start from the bottom but have a good chance of moving up or being rewarded for the work you do, however if not a Uni related issue then i guess a good first job would be one whose experiences you could use in your later career

Wherever you can make money and feel good about yourself doing it. I worked at McDonald's and loved it, went to school for an education degree, taught for two years and it was the most stressful time in my life.

Work, in my opinion, has inherent dignity. You're doing something to help yourself and other people. Doesn't matter what it is. The only thing I would say is that if you think it's beneath you, then it is. If you feel good about what you're doing, then it's the right thing for you.

Grocery, movie theatre, retail. Most anything that gives you good experience in dealing with the general public because your next jobs will find it important that you already have this ability. Anything basic such as cashier or sales floor will be fine.
