pda sat nav system is exactly like a regular pda. You can load it up with programs, mp3, data, and check email depending on model, but it also have a navigational system. Regular gps is meant for the outdoors. It is usually built better construction-wise. Cost much less than pda. If you generally don't camp or go on trails then the pda or automobile gps is recommended.

In general, a PDA sat nav system is a PDA with some "add-on" plug-in device, unless you mean one of the Garmin PDA/GPS, which is a Palm OS PDA with a built-in GPS and software.
Both of these are your basic PDA (with datebook, phonebook, and other functions) PLUS it also tracks location and by running the built-in / included app with appropriate data, it'll behave just like a dedicated GPS, albeit perhaps not as pretty, as it's limited to the buttons and screen of the PDA. However, being mainly software, it can be easily updated.
And these are separate from a dedicated GPS, which only has one function: tell you where you are (and in some cases, how to get to some other location). These often feature a nice big color screen, and often with voice prompts that will tell you to make certain turns, especially if designed for auto use. There are also hand-held versions that keeps track of hiking paths and so on.

I have a PDA and a dedicated satnav. The PDA is best used for keeping track of office info whilst on the move. The satnav is good for finding your way to new locations. Until i can get a PDA with the full satnav functions built in without external antennae and extra weight and equal battery performance that does everything my current PDA does, that is the way I will stay.
Horses for courses.
