Its imposible to say anyone thinks by/for themselves. Everything we do, think, say and even dream about has been influenced by someone or something we've experienced.

No matter how independent we "think" our thoughts are, we cannot deny that it would be imposible to live without the influence of others.

We need others opinions just to live a normal life; from the fashionable clothes we wear to a doctors opinion on whatever illness we may come across to.

Even our current process of thinking requires us to use something taught to us -a language.

I'm not going to be the typicical a_hole "phrase your question right" type of person. I assume you mean how many of us can say that we are not influenced always relying on the thoughts of others? If thats what you mean then I do! Of course we are all products of our environment. But I think I do a better job then must people by being myself. Honestly speaking of course at some point I've been susceptible to peer pressure(teenage years). However, I never really was a follower. Now I am a full blown independent person. Yes I think for myself! Followers really must be stupid because we live one life.

i'm not 'selfish' in that way. i decide material things for myself, I live on my own so practical and logistical things are down to me...

i always share big decisions with my parents 'cos I think they'll only have me as they're eldest child and they deserve to have a say in how i behave and what I do with myself now and in the future, so they've been dominant in my major life choices and (to my regret) i've followed more what they wish than other things that i wanted to do. (i'm 22 so i still have a bit of time) I don't really give any body else the time of day when it comes to choices about my life or my day to day things unless they're people i've known for years or we're organising or going to some sort of function or party or whatever... but i don't go out much, 'cos i'm too busy.

i know i don't think about myself very much. i think about my life, i think about things i want to do, places i want to go, i think if my past, today, tomorrow blah de blah... but i don't think about my self and i don't think FOR my self. i think more BECAUSE OF myself and what kind of person I am.

in fact I think for my parents and my sisters a lot more than I think for my self. Life would be a lot different for me if i did that.

i would be more 'selfish!'

I try to form my own opinion before seeking answers from other people. However it's always nice to find out what other people think. You never know when some small bit of information is going to alter your opinion or make it stronger.

Honey, you have to be able to take care of yourself before you can even start to think of anyone else... this is not selfish, just merely survival.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean but I do think of myself sometimes. I know it's selfish but I do it because I think it;s important to take care of ourselves too.

I am one of those people who think of themselves...
Honestly... but I try to consider that my decision for myself wouldn't affect the others... But still, I think of myself FIRST.
