If you are in a contested divorce with complicated custody and property issues, it may be legal, but unwise. Anything you do may be used in court to show your character.

If you are legally separated are you allowed to see other people??

The quick answer to your question is "Yes."

You have the freedom to associate with whomever you like. However, I can envision circumstances when you might waive your unfettered exercise of that right.

For example, if you have a child(ren) with the person you've separated from and you signed a Marital Separation Agreement that provides for certain behavior involving others (not allowing your children to see you in circumstances that would lead them to believe you are sexually involved with the non-parent or not cohabitation with another person) then your spouse might have reason to take issue with your "seeing other people." And, in general, you shouldn't have relations in front of the children that might damage your or your spouse's relationship with them.

And if you are actually claiming that you are attempting to reconcile your relationship with your spouse, then having romantic relations with other people would stretch the believability of that.

But if there is no agreement, no attempt to reconcile, and no children involved, then you are free to "see" who you like.
