could be ur video requirements .. not enough ram .. not enough hd space ..maybe even not the right directx version ...

Without knowing how it all goes down when you try using it, it will be next to impossible to help you with that answer. Are you the Administrator of your machine? Are you using the installation cd that came with the cd rom? Is the cd rom starting automatically when you pop the in Installation Cd for the rom drive? etc. Larry RadioShack 01-9590

I'm familiar with WinXP, but not with the Hobbit CD. What happens when you try to install it.?

I had the same problem until I upgraded my video card and ram. A new video card may fix the problem as it fixed mine.
