I'm doing a project where my partner and I are performing excerpts of a play or book-- and we were looking for any plays and/or novels where there are siblings who are abused (main characters) by their guardians-- ending in a touching or tragic manner. Any recommendations? *please place a brief synopsis along with title/author/link?* thanks!

Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews. Children who were so abused by their mother that they can not have normal lives and pass the abuse to their children. Much more involved than that, but I don't want to ruin the book for you. If you have never read it , you should. And, yes the children were locked in the attic.

Though the siblings are not physically abused, they are emotionally in The Death of a Salesman. The two brothers, Biff and Happy, are stunted by the expectations of their father, Willy Loman. They struggle with their father's self-proclaimed authority. Here is one link for the character analysis. From there you can get a synopsis of the play.

I think that the kid from (and who wrote) Running with scissors was pretty screwed up and could be considered abused? Its a new movie already though... too late.
