Cricket is a team game, where the role of all the eleven players is equally important. So trying to pick and choose the 'best player' is to undermine the role of the others.
However, in terms of sheer class, Sachin is head and shoulders above Rahul. In full flow, Sachin and not Rahul, is the batsman to watch. He has a wide range of strokes, impeccable timing and a great cricketing sense.
But in terms of rock solid defence and consistency, Rahul's batting is a notch or maybe several notches higher than Sachin. The Little Master has indeed dished out a string of inconsistent performances in recent times, while Rahul has exhibited great fight back spirit.
So each of them are great in their own ways as batsmen. Even then, Sachin is ranked amongst the top all time greatest batsmen in the world. Rahul isn't.
Both of them are however complete cricketers with very little to differentiate between them. While Sachin can swing his arm, Rahul can keep wickets. And both are agile fielders.

Comparision between Rahul and Sachin. No doubt in form batsman is Rahul Dravid, he has got better consistency than Sachin. Sachin is in and out of the team from last couple of years.

This is a god-damn difficult question. Both are great. Both are successful. They have class, style and great stats. Kinda like choosing between your parents... I would say it is Sachin Dravid or Rahul Tendulkar.

Sachin Tendulkar as he holds the record of most centuries in Test Cricket (35) as well as One Day Internationals (40) and also
holds the record for having most runs in One Day Internationals.
Further, he is a utility bowler too.
