* Cool question ...but remember, there are still lots of variables...
1 ) What if humans haven't reached that point in time when time travel is/was invented yet? In order to travel back or forward in time, you first need to have reached that point in history. What if humans are currently in the year 4,000 and time travel is to be invented in the year 4,001?
2 ) What if we've had in fact been visited by people from the future, but their technology is so advanced that they're able to visit us without being detected by us? Maybe they don't want to interfere with the past as they may affect the future. Maybe they're the UFOs we've seen throughout history...
3 ) What if they haven't yet visited us? After all, if you're able travel in time, the chances of being visited in 2006 are very slim. Why? think about it, they have an infinity of other years and places they could visit before ever reaching us at this present day. Maybe the year 10,000,000,000,000 is a popular one to visit instead of 2006.
...well there are lots more reasons, but I'll just give u a headache if I go on... lol.
* Did u know Einstein had his own thoughts on time travel? -check it out when u get a chance.
Interesting question though!

I tell you... THERE CAN NEVER BE SUCH THING AS "TIME TRAVELLING"...
Why???
It's because, timeline is STRAIGHT... There is no past nor future... ONLY PRESENT TIME...
How did I come to this conclusion??
First... Imagine if there is such thing as future or past.. Would that mean that there can be a lot of TIME??
I mean, there is a time "2 hours after the present time", or perhaps "3 years after today", or maybe "2 seconds after this very moment"??? It's totally impossible... If there are are many TIME... Then that just means that there are a lot of DIMENSIONS.. Which divides the different possibilities there could be...
Too much of the "Back to the Future" thing... It's totally impossible... Those were just the imaginations of the different scientists... Although Einstein might have thought about this, but I still say, this occurrence is totally impossible...

The concept of time travel is no more realistic than that of Rosie O'Donnell someday going straight. Time does not occur in a linear fashion, like a car may travel along a straight line, but is instead a constant state of change. It is the result of the metamorphosis of molecules and their location in space.

If time travel turns out to be possible, it may turn out that the technique to do it requires certain equipment be set up on both ends of the trip. If that's the case, nobody will be travelling back earlier than when it was invented.

who is to say that they are not doing that already but to visit yourself would be deleteing yourself right there and now two enitys can not occupie the same time frame at the same time less meet so if they do visit it most likeky would be a different persons body and personility and their past life is lock away in that person's subconcious memory

My, what an ill-informed audience.
Time travel has been confirmed theoretically by quantum equations, and by theoretical physicist, Dr. Michio Kaku, of New York City University.
Additionally:
Have you not heard of the time traveler, John Titor, from the year 2036?

you are assuming the time traveler would return to this time line...otherwise your hypothesis sounds good....watch star trek if you are really interested in the theorized effects of time travel :)
