On here it doesn't mean much. In real life to me it's a small term of endearment. And I don't mind it at all. Sometimes I prefer cutie pie. Mmmm Pie a nice apple pie with ice cream. Yum. Sorry back to the question. It's all good.

If a Bit*h calls me sweetie and tells me I don't know what I am talking about while flaping her hands and then tells people not to listen to me because i am crazy or confussed I HATE that ****! Who the hell do people think they are.

I am not your sweetie bit*h. The only person that can call me sweetie is my man. So all you wanna be smart girls who like to demean other girls better back up off of me...

I guess i don't mind it when someone else calls me sweetie if they mean it but they best not be demeaning cuz i can get that back

It depends who says it and how they say it, if it is someone I know and is close to than yes they can call me sweetie, but if it isn't someone I feel comfortable with or some old guy, than No.

It depends. If I'm shopping for clothes and the girl who's waiting on me calls me sweetie, or hun, I find it highly annoying. Otherwise it makes me feel nice.

Well, nobody has ever called me that. If a girl actually did call me "sweetie", I'd feel pretty darn good.

Offended.......... My husband and I go to this restaurant all the time and the waitresses always call all the men (customers) sweetie, honey. It "BURNS ME UP !" I mean where's the respect ? They don't even know these men.

It depends on who says it. If it's like my grandparents, it's cute. Otherwise, if it's just random people, I either feel like they're treating me like a kid, or they're hitting on me....awkward... Unless it's a girl that actually means it. Then it's ok. But none of my friends say "sweetie."

Depends on the person. I think older people come from a generation when it's quite harmless. But when I'm getting my car worked on and the mechanic does it, I want to hurt him with a tire iron.

people call people sweetie?!?! they call me sir and i hate it, i like to say, "SIr!?! You have me confused with my dad, I'm graham".

but seriously, it's kinda situational for most well adjusted people - and the intent behind it. i call my close friends 'jerk' in a nice way all the time.
