I have also wondered that. I do think that it is recommended that a child be at least 12 years old. I do agree with the other answers about the child's maturity. I should really be about their ability to handle situations, and manturity. I have great kids. I do not worry so much about it they can handle themselves nearly as much as I worry about other people that could intrude. I do not think that you can be overly protecting kids in this day and age. P.S. it is also a smart thing to check on the KBI or the GBI listings of sexual preditors in your area. It is comforting to know that I don't have a registered offender in the same block.

I live in Georgia and really don't know if there is an age that a child could stay home alone. Really don't think age has anything to do with it its how mature and how long they will be at home alone. No matter what age a child should never be home alone for very long if at all.

I don't know about Georgia, but in California there is no age...
It's sounds ridiculous, but it's true. It's up to the parents discretion, and ofcourse common sense...
The thing is, no matter how old they are, if something happens...You're in big trouble.
Every child is different.....so, like I said, use common sense....
Good day! ! !

Georgia law should'nt tell you whether your child can stay home alone, your childs maturity level should. and when in doubt, hire a babysitter
