I doubt whether there's any meaning to the idea that atoms are the building blocks of the universe and ALSO the means to destroy us using the practical application of E=mc2. Creating mass and destroying mass....are just complimentary parts of the equation.....those are my thoughts.
Philosophically speaking, it's ironic that we can be destroyed by the same elements that give us life and substance.....doh!! I just restated your question, sorry.

hmm thats an interesting concept, couldnt you say the same thing about water? we cant survive without it, yet it can destroy us, and the same can be said of air, in the context of "air gone wild" such as hurricanes and tornados ,,,, and actually, how would the atom destroy us? i suppose you mean atomic bombs, but then, the bomb wouldnt do it to most, the radiation would,,,, course, im not up on science so maybe its the same thing,, i personally think more of the soul,,, as the essence of everything, not of the physical,, and yes it, the soul, can also make us or break us

Interesting, but what if there are things beyond the atom, things that have even greater potential to do us harm? We are so sure that we have all the answers about atoms and nuclear physics, but we have only scratched the surface of the universe's potential. After all, if we can harness that much energy from an atom, imagine the kind of thoughtless destruction we could accomplish in a hundred years?

THE ONLY THING THAT CAN DESTROY US IS OUR OWN STUPIDITY NOT THE ATOM BOMB. YOU CAN LEAVE AN ATOM BOMB FOR CENTURIES IN SOME PLACE AND IT WILL NOT DESTROY ANYTHING.
