Any PC or Mac will work, if you download iTunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/) and hook up your iPod. If you buy an iPod, the iTunes comes on a CD for you to load onto your computer.
If you want to learn more about how the iTunes program and the iPod work together, visit this site for more detailed information:
iTunes Support: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/
iPod Support: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/family/ (you will need to pick your model.)
If you are considering buying an iPod, I highly recommend it. I have now purchased one for each member of my family (except the 8 -year-old). And we all love them. (The 8-year-old complains miserably that she's the ONLY person in the house that doesn't have an iPod!)
I went with the 30 and 60 gig Video models so we can watch video podcasts, movies, TV shows as well as listen to music and audio books.

No. iPods will work on either Apples or PCs. When you hook up the iPod for the first time, it recognizes the type of computer and formats the iPod accordingly. You will need to download iTues for either MAC or PC, and set that up on the computer you are using with the iPod. You CANNOT however, go back and forth between different computers. If you try and take an iPod set up on a PC and use it with a MAC, you will need to format it and you will loose all the music on there.

I think iPods come formatted for either a Mac or a PC. You have to make sure, when you buy one, that it's formatted for a PC/Windows, install the software on the CD (iTunes) and go from there. It works through your USB port.
