My sister was on an assignment in Egan, MN when that movie came out. They did not appreciate the accent or the movie at all.
But I've been to the area (only as far as the twin cities) and they really do talk that way.
One of my favorite movies, even though it is a bit gruesome.

i admire this action picture. Yes, I have seen the movie and yes the people really talk like that. Some of my family used to live there.

Yes, they talk like that... well, some of them, anyway. As for the movie, I saw it and remember it but didn't really feel it was a great picture.

Not sure really how they speak , but they all did seem a bit to layed back. I loved the movie by the way.

Uh, yah, you betcha! My ex and I went to a national business Christmas party his company had a year after that movie came out, and we met some people from upper Minnesota, and they talked with that accent. We temporarily lived in Wisconsin and alot of people talked with a similar but not as strong accent. It must be a "northern" or close to Canada thing.

I hate to admit this......but......I spent two weeks vacation there every year as a kid. They do talk like that. Hard to believe I know, but they really do. There own regional dialect that they don't think they have. But, do any of us think we have an accent?
