"It looks like my baby has dandruff. Is it cradle cap?
Probably. Cradle cap is very common. If your baby's scalp has flaky, dry skin that looks like dandruff, or even thick, oily, yellowish or brown scaling or crusting patches, it's most likely cradle cap.
Cradle cap isn't cute, but it's harmless. Most often it shows up in the first few months of life, and it usually clears up on its own in about six to 12 months — although some babies have it for several years.
You might notice the same condition around your baby's ears or eyebrows, or even in his armpits and other creases. When it's not on his scalp, it's called seborrheic dermatitis."
This is a direct quote from a baby health website. MY 13 yr old had cradle cap, quite a heavy case--she looked like she had dried paste all on her head. I eventually took a polastic comb and scraped at it until I got it loose and it came off. It never came back. I was gentle, and she never acted like the comb bothered her...

It might be cradle cap and not dandruff. Before you would wash ur baby hair get baby oil, and massage it in ur child's scalp. Let it sit for a good 15 mintues to an hour depending on how bad it might be. Wash the baby's hair out and use newborn shampoo like Huggies or something like that and while washing it use a brush. Massage your baby's hair with the brush like working it into a lather. Once you're done get aquaphor and use it on ur baby's hair if u don't have that use vaseline and it would help.

It's cradle cap. When giving him/her a bath just rinse out the hair with plain water, soap tends to try out the skin. After bath put some baby oil on scalp and comb the hair. That will help break up the scales and get rid of the flakes.
*****Your baby won't die from putting baby oil on the scalp. The only way to aspirate on something if it is ingested.

Your little one has cradle cap, which many babies get. Baby Naturals makes a great cradle cap shampoo. Wet the hair, lather it up, and let it sit on the hair and scalp, while you use a fine toothed comb to gently scratch your little one's scalp to loosen the flaking skin. Then comb it through, rinse the hair, and it should clear most of it up. If you do this everyday for 1 -2 weeks (as per instructions), it should clear up the cradle cap and not come back. If it does come back later, simply use the product all over again.

What your baby has is cradle cap which is very common. After each bath rub some baby oil on their head and whatever you do, avoid the urge to scratch it off. This can cause a cut and infection. The cradle cap will go away on its own so don't worry.

before your baby takes a bath rub baby oil on his/her scalp, let it soak in for about 15 minutes on then wipe excess skin off with a warm wash cloth, then bathe like normal, do this 1-2 times a week, this should help, my daughter had huge clumps off dead skin that would build up on her head and behind the ears (I believe it was eczema) and this worked great for her. Good luck!

It is actually called cradle cap and can be easily removed by massaging some baby oil in and letting it set awhile then washing their hair and rinsing it well...then follow up with some baby oil to keep it from scaling back up... this is perfectly normal all babies get it .... congrats on the little one...........

yes yes it is cradle cap. Buy a soft rubber baby brush. When you give the baby a bath put baby wash on their hair and massage the scalp with the baby brush rinse with water and repeat. Only do it about 2 times each bath so you don't irritate the scalp. It will probably take several bath times to get rid of it. once it goes away keep doing it about every other bath to keep it from coming back.
DO NOT USE BABY OIL ON YOUR BABY. BABIES CAN DIE FROM IT. THEY ASPIRATE (IT GOES IN THEIR LUNGS) AND THE SUFFOCATE.
ITS TRUE LOOK IT UP THAT'S WHY THE HAVE SAFETY CAPS ON THEM NOW.

it is called cradle cap, but the baby oil goes on their head BEFORE the bath, about 20 minutes before actually. You put it on to loosen the dead skin, then during the bath you can brush them GENTLY to remove it, and wash the oil out.
