Dodgeball is a game that is typically played in gym class in school. You have a bunch of people in a room like a gymnasium, and a bunch of balls (I really would recommend foam balls...but a lot of times, we would use rubber balls, that hurt really bad). How you play is to pick up a ball and throw it at someone. If you get hit by a ball, you're "out". The goal is to be the last one who isn't "out". You can either just try to avoid getting hit, or you can really actively throw the balls at people. Sometimes there are rules like you can't hit anyone in the head, and if you throw a ball and it hits someone in the head, then you (the thrower) are out. Also, if you throw a ball at someone, and they catch it, you (the thrower) are out.
I always hated that game. I would try to find a ball that wasn't going too fast and stick an arm or hand out so I could get out.

No! it's very different! In dodgeball there are two teams separated by a line down the centre of a court. There are several dodgeballs that are placed on the centre line. Every member of each team starts off with his/her hand touching the back walll of their side of the court. When the whistle is blown, it's a race to the centre line to grab the dodgeballs. Once you have a dodgeball, you throw it a a member of the opposite team to strike them below the neck. If you are hit with a dogeball before it touches the ground you are "out", and have to sit on the sidelines. If you catch the ball that is thrown at you, the person who threw the ball is "out" and you bring in someone from your team who is "out". When there are no more players on the opposite team, you have won. The rules may vary, but that's basicallly it.

It's nothing like basketball at all, lol=)
I'm not too familiar with it (looks fun though) but I think it involves like a team of 6 players (?!) lined on either side of the court.
The player starts by using the ball to hit another player on the opposing team.
The other player' (opponent) objective is to 'dodge' the ball hence the name of the game.
Should the player fail to do this, he/ she will be eliminated.
For more info watch Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller in the movie, "Dodgeball".

As the name goes Dodge ball you would have to dodge the ball.
So what happens it people try to get away as fast as possible and as far as possible from the guy or the team that has the ball!
the point of the game is for the most dodgy person to remain till the end and win! (oh yes it must hit the leg below the knee)
Try it out with a tennis ball its hard, then with a volleyball or soccer ball.

no, its completely different. In dodgeball, you have one ball and just throw it at the opposing player on the other team. The opposing team has to try to "dodge" it. If they dodge it, it will be there turn to throw the ball at the other team. This cycle repeats over and over.

How do you not know the play dodge ball? Everybody knows how to play it since they were a child and it's not the same as basketball. Someone throws a ball at you and you try to dodge the ball, hence the name dodge ball. If you get hit by the ball, your out of the game.

it is definitly not like basketball.first you line up balls in the middle of the floor, then one team gets on one side of the wall and the other team gets on the other side, then you say go and both teams run to the middle and get a ball. You have to touch the wall after that, and start throwing balls at people (carefull if they catch your ball then you're out).also if they hit you with a ball, you're out and it's the same rules for them if you try to get them out.the team that has no more people left loses.

Dodge ball is when you get in a large area and two teams. split one team in half and line up parallel. then try to hit the other team which is in the middle from the waist down as they try to dodge the ball. when they are hit they are out...
