Alright here goes a little reality for everyone that thinks with Rutgers SOS they cant climb the rankings. Computer average right now is 9th and thats before they played Louisville which will make their SOS go up and make the computers like them a little more as well, I see them ending up right around 6th in the computer rankings. Their schedule reads like this right now, 93, 92, 35, 60, 38, 50, 87, 3 and one NR(which if Texas can play a DivII opponent why cant rutgers) compare that with Texas a one loss team ranked ahead of them and lets see how it plays out. 108, 1L, 77, 85, 20, 71, 27, 44, 47 and one NR so they each have played one DivII opponent and both have 4 wins against top 50 opponents Texas has played one more opponent than Rutgers as well but when Rutgers plays WVa they will have played just as many teams in the top 50 as Texas and won more of them. So what qualifies Texas as a title team more than Rutgers, nothing except for the name.
Big East bashers take notice before you spout off about how they dont play anyone and all this other crap compare Rutgers schedule with that of your team and see how it compares. They deserve to be in the title game if they win out and a win over WVa will propel them into the game, and if it happens we will see if they should have been there.

There are so many ifs in this equation. IF they are number 1 or 2 in the standings at the end of the regular season, why not? Colleges/universities go along with the BCS, and if Rutgers has the numbers, no matter what public opinion might be, they deserve to be there.
I'm a Cardinal fan, and I'd love to be having this discussion about them, but it's not going to happen this time around. We moved to the Big East so we could be considered for the bigger bowl games - we haven't played too badly the last 5 or 6 years, but if you're not part of the system, forget it. Rutgers is playing by the rules, they should reap the rewards, whatever those might be in the end.

The only thing holding them back is the perception that they aren't a good team (because they are Rutgers) and that the Big East is a weak conference. Both perceptions are wrong, however. If you look at the combined records of the Big East and Pac-10 conferences as a whole, they aren't that different. Big East is 47-23. Pac 10 is 51-40 and has 2 more teams, yet has almost twice as many losses as Big East. In reality, the Big East is a stronger conference than Pac-10 because of overall record, and because it has 3 strong teams - Rutgers, W. Va and Louisville. Pac-10 only has 2 strong teams - Cal and USC. If USC or Cal were undefeated, they would have a shot at the national title, so why shouldn't Rutgers?
The same goes for the SEC which is the most overrated conference in NCAA FB, thanks to that SI cover story. It is 71-43 and has 12 teams, 4 more than Big East, and again, more than twice as many losses. It only has 3 solid teams, Auburn, Florida, and Arkansas (and FYI, Arkansas has only beat one ranked team all year). You can't count LSU as among the strong because LSU hasn't beaten a ranked team all season (whereas Rutgers has, so "who has LSU beaten?"). Tennesee lost to LSU (again, who has LSU beaten) and FL. So don't believe your own hype SEC fans.
Reality is, Rutgers won't make it to the BCS championship because of money. They don't "travel well" and since the BCS wants to make as much money as possible, they will pick a one loss team that travels well (Michigan, OSU, USC, Texas) to make the most money on the deal. RU will probably end up in the Sugar Bowl if they go undefeated.

Just because the Big East isn't that good of a football conference doesn't mean the Rutgers don't deserve to go to a BCS game...I am a K ansas State fan and I was at the Big XII Championship game in St. Louis when they were ranked 3rd in the nation. It was announced to the entire stadium that UCLA had just lost, making it possible for us to go to the National Championship if we won the game. Well, Micheal Bishop blew the game and we ended up getting screwed by being sent to the Alamo Bowl. Anyway, the following year the BCS revised their formula for who would and who would not be sent to BCS games. We in Kansas like to call it "The K-State Rule". The Rutgers beat Louisville, which obviously makes them a deserving and good enough team, but because their schedule isn't strong enough and the way the BCS system is set up they will not go to a BCS bowl game.

Do they deserve it? Why not, if they're undefeated at season's end. Will they get to play in the BCS championship? Nope, not a chance. What I'd like to see is that if both Boise St. and Rutgers finish the season undefeated, have those two matched up in a bowl game. Let Ohio St. or Michigan play a one loss team, just give me two undefeated teams playing each other!!

yes & no, They did beat a good Louisville squad and might get past WVU. But the truth is if they have to play an FLA or an Ohio St/Michigan in a bowl game they might get blown out, which would be embarrassing. But I say if the run the table and stay undefeated let them go, to whatever bowl game they can even the National Championship game.
I'd watch even though they probably get blown out the water.
final score 45-7 Rutgers lost.

It depends on how the rest of the top ten finishes. If Florida, Auburn, or USC finish the season with out a lose then no way their conference is so top heavy with just 3 teams that are legit, but the SEC is loaded with good teams, and a 1 lose SEC team should be in the BCS finals over a unbeaten Big East.

The Big East is a joke of a conference. It is pathetic that they have 3 teams in the BCS top ten. They would be crushed by USC, Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, Cal, Texas, Auburn (even with this weekends losses) and the list could go on. This article says it all:

My heart says that they should, but reality is that they don't need to be on the same field with the Ohio States, Floridas, and the Michigans of the world at this time. However, since the Big East is an BCS conference if they win out they should be allowed to go to the Fiesta Bowl where they will be trounced soundly.

I think that there doin awesome, but they have to go this year undefeated so next year they will get a good rankin and then the bcs polls will give them a better chance for the championship game. i think the polls suck, but thats how they go. like tommy tubberville says they should have a playoff of all undefeated teams, then they should play the championship game.
