How funny, I just gave a speech on this. Here is a segment: The Sears Tower located in Chicago IL. According to thesearstower.com, The Sears Tower was successfully completed on May 3, 1973, and held the title of the world’s tallest building for 25 years. It topped off at 1,450 ft in height. The title was broken in 1998 with the completion of the Petronas Towers located in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. The Sears Tower is still the tallest building in North America and ranks the third tallest in the world. * Taipei outdoes the Petronas Towers only by the Spire at the top. Including spires in the height is still a great debate.

Taipei 101 has 101 stories above ground and five underground. It is the tallest measuring its base to the architectural top, to the highest occupied floor, and to the top of the roof.
The Sears Tower (next in line) is tallest if only you measure from its base to the top of its antenna.

A lot of people think it is the building in Dubai but it has not been finished yet. It stands at over 2,000 feet, 108 stories. When done it will be the tallest.
