Make a beer trap, fold a piece of paper so that it makes a funnel.with the small opening about 3/4 inches. Get something like an old mayonnaise jar and put a little beer in the bottom of the jar. Tape the funnel in the mouth of the jar so that the small end is an inch or so above the level of the beer. The gnats will flock to the yeast in the beer and get trapped. You might be amazed how well it works. Oh yes... don't forget to drink the rest of the beer!!!
Yes... fruit might work, but try the beer for sure! Or do an experiment, make one with fruit, one with beer... see which gets the most gnats!!

They have to be breeding somewhere. It is probably in your sink drains. Pour bleach down the drains every night until gnats are gone. To catch the gnats that are already flying, put some fruit (rotting if you have it) in a jar. Tape a paper cone in place of the cover with a very small hole. This will allow the gnats to enter to get to the food, but they will not be able to get out. I've heard that covering it with saran wrap and putting tiny holes in the sarah wrap works as well.

Put 2oz of cider vinegar in a small juice glass, add two or three drops of liquid dish washing soap, put several glasses of this out, wait a few days and look thru the bottom of the glass. You won't believe all of the dead gnats in the bottom, you may have to change the mixture a couple of times before you get rid of them, but it does work. Be sure to check any bags of potatoes or onions you have setting around as they like to swarm them if there is a spoiled one in the bag...I used this remedy this year for the first time and it does work and is simple to do and inexpensive.

I use the brown fly traps that you hang up it attracts them and is sticky so they fly on there and get stuck. You can buy them at places like walmart in the hardware dept. or any hardware store.
