The photograph was in glass.....filled with Seranno's urine.

I think it's legit. If you didn't know what fluid it was in most people would think it's a cool shot. Which it is. At the same time I think Serranno was going for shock value more than trying to make a statement.

Ultimately, the only thing that legitimizes art is time. Until you mentioned it, I'd forgotten that whole mess was even a news item briefly. Will people be looking at (images of) it, or reading about it fifty years from now? A hundred? Doubtful. For me it was a Yawn fest.

I think that art is a way of expressions. Sometimes what you see is not entirely what is meant. Another thing is, art is usually legitimated by the amount of worth value it has...As the saying goes, One man's trash is another man's treasure.
