Heartburn is very common during pregnancy, so don't worry! You're very normal! I found that pretty much nothing will make it go away, but I did find a few things that made it better. I avoided anything spicy, and ate very bland foods. I stayed away from soda - even caffeine free, since this seemed to make heartburn worse. I propped the head of my head up because heartburn and acid reflux really bothered me when I was trying to sleep. Good luck with this! I hope you feel better, and congratulations on your pregnancy!

Everyone says it means the baby will have a lot of hair. I believed it after I gave birth to my son, he was a hairy little guy. But I had worse heartburn with my daughter and she didn't have much hair at all. I couldn't control the heartburn with tums or pepcid the second time around. Milk isn't good, it's a temporary soother and will only make the heartburn worse. I did some research and found that apple cider vinegar helps neutralize the acid and it worked for me. I'd just fill a shot glass with the vinegar and sip it down, it was rough but REALLY helped.

The whole thing about the baby having alot of hair is bull. I had major heartburn the whole 9 months and my son didn't get hair until he was almost 2.

As for something that will help it, first off avoid such foods that cause the heartburn (unless you are craving it). My doctor told me the best thing he could reccommend would be Gaviscon. It worked for me lots of times.

Good luck and I hope this works for you!

Some say that means the baby will have lots of hair when its born but it could be that your eating things that is too spicy or acidy. Good luck in the future kids are a blessing but they also grow up and learn to talk back.

The old wives tale says it means the baby will have a lot of hair but that isn't always true. Heartburn is very common in pregnant women.

During pregnancy, the placenta produces the hormone progesterone, which relaxes the smooth muscles of the uterus. This hormone also relaxes the valve that separates the esophagus from the stomach, allowing gastric acids to seep back up, which causes that unpleasant burning sensation.

Progesterone also slows down the wavelike contractions of your esophagus and intestines, making digestion sluggish. Later in pregnancy, your growing baby crowds your abdominal cavity, pushing the stomach acids back up into the esophagus.

Many women start experiencing heartburn and other gastrointestinal discomforts in the second half of pregnancy. Unfortunately, it usually comes and goes until your baby is born.

What it means is that your growing baby inside your uterus is smooshing all your other internal organs up and out of the way, making for really inefficient digestion! Take some Rolaids or Tums, avoid spicy or acidy foods that aggravate your heartburn. For me, it was tomato sauce... which totally sucks because I love pizza! If it's really bad, your doctor can tell you what else is safe to take to ease your pain.

some wise tales will tell you that its a girl and she will have lots of hair, that its the hair growing on her body thats giving heartburn. I didnt believe that b/c I had a boy, .....who looks like a monkey!, lol

anyway it has something to do with your stomach acid and the baby's digestion, you know what you eat, baby eats and if he/she dont like it, its coming up your way, either vomitting or heartburn, thats what my Dr told me, in of course laymens terms...

he told me to take mylanta, two spoons a day and I was good
