I went to get a pap because the lift side of my hip right where I believe my ovaries are were getting pin prickish pains on and off. They didn't find any cysts but when I got a call today saying that my lab results states that I have low grade abnormal cells. I'm really nervous. Should I panic?

No relax. Celluar changes happen as a result of the human papilloma virus (HPV) the same family of viruses that cause common warts, like on your hand. Certain strains of HPV can cause cervical cancer - this is why you get PAP smears. Others can cause minor celluar changes, still others cause no apparent symptoms at all. Regardless even in the worst case it is easy to address this problem by getting a colposcopy (a small section of cells is taken from your cervix curing the problem) as long as you follow up as your doctor is directing you.

Your ovary may be ovulating or it may be something entirely unrelated to your reproductive parts. Nonetheless your physician will probably want to get a follow up PAP in a few months. If that is normal you are good to go until next year.

Please, please appreciate that having HPV does not imply you may have melanoma. The probabilities are fairly very small. When I had an irregular pap years in the past I freaked... I did not inform someone since I used to be certain it used to be melanoma and I desired to 'morn' myself for just a little. When I eventually broke down and instructed my mom it became out each she and my aunt had the identical crisis... with *NO* melanoma ever displaying up. Back whilst I had this the proceedures had been one-of-a-kind... I do not know in the event that they ever fairly did an entire out 'biopsy'... they simply scraped a few cells which they established and located to be 'precancerous' (I'm guessing that equals HPV... I realize it used to be HPV and so I'm guessing that's what they supposed via this time period). Then they did a 'freezing therapy' that's now not performed and had me get extra common paps for the following 12 months or 2. It by no means lower back in any respect and it's been over 10 yrs. Feel unfastened to e mail should you suppose chatting extra would support... however fairly that used to be the tip of the tale for me and from what I listen that's *very customarily* the case. :) Hope that is helping!

DO NOT PANIC!!! I have had an abnormal pap. Well about 4 of them. I had the same diagnosis. They will have you go in for a pap every 3 months until a normal one comes up. If it doesnt, they will do a biopsy, where they clip off a piece of your cervix and examine it under a microscope. This should not hurt if you are relaxed and you have a good doctor. Most of the time it is fine. Mine came back "inflamed." I was fine. You should be alright. I panicked too. There is no need to.

I had this too. When I had it they did this procedure called LEAP and it was like a really different pap smear and all they did was retest and see if it was maybe something wrong . But after that procedure I was fine nothing to worry about.
