I bought my son (age 5) a really inexpensive guitar for his birthday and he plays with it all the time. My question is this: Is 5 to young for guitar lessons? I don't know the first thing about playing so I wouldn't know what to show him.

Definitely keep him in this. I would recommend getting him in lessons, but be sure the teacher is little-kid friendly and experienced, and will work on his level. By all means keep him in them.

5 is not too young, but I would ask the teacher for some advice on a better guitar. There are some pretty good "travel size" guitars that will be easier to play. You could also go to a local shop and ask them as well.

Depends on him, I think if/when my kids start music lessons, I'll have them go twice a month instead of every week. Then check on their progress if they can handle go for once a week.

That is awesome that he is totally into - get him one of those mini flying V jam packs.

My son's name is Riley...lol.
