Duracell ran a television commercial that consisted of a cartoon story about bunnies in a race, which was won by a bunny powered by a Duracell battery. The race took place over a rugged and arid landscape. One bunny was powered by a Duracell battery with the brand name visible on its back. The other bunny was powered by a black battery with no brand name on it. After the start of the race the Duracell bunny is always in front. On two occasions the exhausted non-Duracell bunny is replaced by a similar runner who emerges from a hiding place along the track. It's somewhat similar to "The Tortoise and the Hare" fable, except in this case, all the contestants are bunnies and instead of the nonstopping tortoise, it's a nonstopping Duracell bunny. And like the old fable, it presented a moral of the story...that Duracell lasted longer.
I couldn't find any reason why the bunny was pink.
In 1989, Energizer started a campaign that was a parody of the Duracell bunny...and as a result, is only shown in North America as the Duracell bunny ads were used in Europe.

Because that crazy looking bunny was a popular toy all those years ago when they adopted the rabbit as their mascot.
It represents the fact that toys like that use a lot of batteries.
The original advert featured hundreds of those rabbits all banging away on their drums and all running out of batteries one by one until only one was left standing. The camera zoomed into the back of the rabbit to reveal it was using duracell batteries.

actually it is because they reproduce on and on and on, not because they have sex on and on,
I used to raise rabbits and thier sex time is only 3-5 seconds at most. sure they get up and do it again a couple of times, but never for very long.
Pink makes him more acceptable for a cuddly mascot
