Is it safe for me downgrade my 2.6 psp?

Question

I had a stock 2.5 psp, which means that when I bought it, it already had the version 2.5 on it. I then upgraded to version 2.6 so is it safe for me downgrade? The Dark_AleX, downgrader seems to work but I saw this on a website and just want to make sure.
