Apparently we have the third highest amount off CCTV cameras per head of population in the world!...How scary is that? I think its only Russia and China that have more.
I thought they were a good idea to start with, for fighting crime and helping to keep people safe at night etc...but cant extra police on the beat do that?
Now there's talk of putting bugs on bins to collect information about the waist you throw away and even more worrying a mandatory tracking device on your car that logs how fare, where and for how long you drive!...basically they might as well shuv a chip up your **** the moment your born and be done with it!

Well here is my view on it as an Ex-Security guard who used CCTV a lot in a retail environment. They did not catch people stealing, only I caught people who were stealing (Meaning a person needs to act for the camera, cameras can not do their jobs by themselves). Also if I were a crook, then I'd pay the little kids a bounty for every CCTV camera they destroyed in the area I did dirt. But here is another thing people should think about. A CCTV system creates a lot of jobs, that keeps a lot of people employed. (Though I doubt its effectiveness at preventing crime.)
