Apart from open the door and find the kettle
I would make the bed so I could just collapse into it after the hardest day of anyone's life, which it is

Well, if it is a NEW house.... I would first SEAL the grout around any tile countertops, walls, floors in the kitchen, bathrooms or any room. It takes a few days for them it to dry properly, but well worth the time it would take remove embedded mold and stains of the future. Then I would clean, unpack, collapse and have tea (and pee). LOL Good luck on your move!

After a nice cup of tea, check that central heating and plumbing are working. Landline and broadband were OK, and surprislngly ( This is my hobbyhorse) I would check that all doors in the house were the PROPER way hung. ( Hinge side to the wall, and not as some builders do ,and hang them so that the doors go into the room)

i've moved house quite a lot,and the first thing i do is make sure the kettle, tea bags, milk and sugar are on hand.enter the new house, make a cuppa, and start emptying boxes, within 2 days my house looks like i have lived there for months, having said that i'm a dab hand at it now,so i pack everything perfect and know which box goes in which room.

Change all the locks on the outside doors, both front and back. You never know how many keys there are for the locks that are already fitted, and I bet you'll only have 1 or 2 of them !

Clean the important things, like kitchen cabinets, bathtub, sinks, etc. Plus I buy new toilet seats and put them on. Our house was disgusting when we bought it, so I had to disinfect the whole place before we could even consider unpacking our boxes.

Put piles of rock salt in each corner of your living room, open all the windows and loudly shout and tell all the spirits to go from your home. This gets rid of any lingering spirits from any previous tenents, and you have a clean start.

Paint the walls, shampoo the carpets and have the drapes cleaned. I wouldn't want to move into a dirty house.
