all I have to do is put a finger on the turning signal and pull back just a hair and the brights go off so I figured its the handle itself but I need to know for sure before I have to spend a whole bunch at the dealer.

The high beams are not controlled by the daytime running lamps or automatic headlamps. Pull the turn signal lever towards you. If the headlights don't switch, or the lever feels loose, you will have to replace the whole turn signal switch. The factory part is about $185, it takes 1.3 hours to change. The left and right headlights are fused separately, so a fuse would take out the low and high on one side, not both low beams.

you have a bad headlight switch on your steering column, try pulling back on the switch handle, some of these new vehicles you have to push the lever forward for bright lights and pull it back towards you for the dim lights.

It could be a few things such as your water pump going bad or the radiator might be plugged up somewhere but the most likely the thermostat is bad take it to a shop and have them change the thermostat and check the rest of the cooling system while they have it in there

Try pushing the same switch forward instead of pulling back, and see what happens.

The car will automatically turn on the high beams if both low beams are out.
