I need help with my extra credit work, I have to answer 2 out of these 3 questions:

1. Discuss the evolution of Theodore Roosevelt as a “progressive” president. Discuss his handling of the major issues during his administration and analyze his strengths and weaknesses.

2. Compare the images and policies of the three presidents of the Progressive Era: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and Woodrow Wilson.

3. What factors led the United States into a war with Spain in 1898? How was the war justified? How did this war bring the United States onto the world stage?

thank you

Roosevelt was one of the first Presidents to make conservation a national issue. He favored the use of America's natural resources, but not the misuse of them through wasteful consumption. He introduced the phrase "Square Deal" to describe his progressive views in a speech delivered after leaving the office of the Presidency. In this speech, he stressed equality of opportunity for all citizens, and government regulations to encourage such.

I am not good at history, but look at this page for question #3 http://www.emayzine.com/lectures/1898WAR.html. The war was justified, I think, because Spain sunk the Maine. The war brought the US onto the world stage because it was so widespread.
