You should probably write your essay World War II because it can be written in 7 pages or more just to summarize it. It also changed many borders, governments, and people. Virtually every library has hundreds if not thousands of books on it and the internet would help. It's a big part of history for you to write about.

I would write about something else that not many other historians have already covered:

Fifth Dynasty ancient Egypt... In this dynasty, the cult of Ra the sun cult reached its peak, which later influenced the Eighteenth Dynasty pharaoh Akhenaten (father of Tutankhamon). Akhenaten (born Amonhotep IV) made the cult of the Aten (the Sun Disk) the only god allowed to be worshipped during the latter part of his 17 year reign.

Also, King Niuserre Iny of the Fifth Dynasty was the first to build an obelisk and pylons as part of his religious monuments, two styles which were used throughout the remainder of pharaonic architecture.

This would take a little effort, but how about the history of history? You know, the teaching of history and how it has changed over the years. Just for a small example, see how black people have been portrayed in past history books. What they were called, how much more black history is mentioned in textbooks then vs. now. That's just one example. Also, see how events very close to the time of printing are portrayed then vs. how they are portrayed now. It could really be an interesting and original paper.

The cancer that is inheritance. Since all histwhorians are subsidized in some way or another by hereditary rank, power, and wealth, they are driven to miss the point on all historical analysis. Their absurd analogy of civilization to the human body with its Youth, Maturity, Senility, and Death is just a cover up for the logical effect of unearned birth privileges. A better analogy would be what would happen if Pro Football started to allow players, on retirement, to pass on their positions to their sons. At first, it wouldn't matter much, since the first few heirs wouldn't have to play much. But year by year, the NFL would get worse and worse until it would become a joke and have to be disbanded. If you believe in inheritance, the joke is on you. We won't be a free country until everyone is cut off from his parents' money and connections at the age of 18.

it sounds lke you are studying art history like hammurabi and the great wonders of the world. i would not recommend the two choices you have listed. it's like trying to immerge into a different world. you should write about the world war or something that cause a great impact to you now in the present, so when you are writing latter part of you essay to give it a nice ending.

"The many Brave Spirits in this World Past and Present"
Starting with the peacemakers, war lords, (military men that fought battles from their hearts). Inventors that made the technology to improve man's abilities. Medical scientists,(Madame Curie), From all corners of this planet. And the wonderful creations that God bestowed upon us that they found their inspirations through. Like the author Mark Twain, or John Milton who gave us sight into the beauty of mankind good, bad or indifferent.

Something else.

There's a saying that goes something to the effect of "Those that do not learn from the past are destined to repeate it." I'd make comparisons between things that happened way back when and compare them to what's going on in the world today. But hey that's just me.

The Holocaust, no contest. I think it's fascinating and horrible. I could probably write a million pages on it.
