I'm originally from Tokyo and currently living in the United States. I will be moving back to Japan in Feb. NYC is is truely amazing. In Tokyo you can go to Roppongi for restaurants serving cuisine from many countries but in NYC there are so many genuine restaurants that are served from people from that country...Italian food made by Italians, Greek food from a Greek chef, Russsian, Chinese, etc. I'm making another trip there in about 3 weeks to see the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall, see the Empire State Building, take a cruise around Manhattan Island and the Statue of Liberty. I plan to do some shopping on 5th Ave. :)

NYC is a very amazing place that offers a vast variety of entertainment. Some of the best restaurants can be found in high priced fine dining (i.e. Tavern on the Green, The Waldorf), hip, shiek places (i.e. Nobu, Tao) or neighborhood dives. The nightlife is never ending with live stage shows on Broadway or hip clubs. Sightseeing is unrivaled with captivating structures in any directions you look (i.e. the Statue Of Liberty, Chrysler Building, Empire State Building, etc.) Museums, shops, etc. Something for everyone. It does get a little congested (actually a lot) but if peace and quiet is what you are looking for go to Central Park or head for the other 4 bouroughs (there are 5) where you can find just as many restaurants but not as many people. The best part of the city is getting around. Everything is a worthy walk and the subways are plentiful.

I think Tokyo and NYC have alot in common.
The difference I thought was that Tokyo is made up of mostly Japanese and NYC is made up of just about every culture in the world.
I guess it depends on the person, but if you like Tokyo I think you'd love NYC. I would love to live there some day.
I think it's amazing.

Yes, I have been to NYC only twice, but it is really the big apple. A lot of people and and very busy place. Since you were from Asia, I know that you will enjoy visiting NYC. As far as I am concern, You have not visited the USA if you have not been to New York City.

It has its good points and its bad points, but it is still the city that
never sleeps! Always something to do at any hour of the day or night.

It depends. If you like a big, crowded and diverse city, yes. If you don't like excitement, no.
