I recently lost my sister, and it just sems like I'm more attuned to death now than before. I find myself crying when I hear of a death (like I just heard about Gerald Levert's death), and it really makes me sad. Does it affect any of you in this way?

Yes it does!

It did for me. After my cousin died (over 10 years ago) I found myself incredibly empathetic in situations that I used to shrug off - I still am. I still cry when I hear about someone else's pain form losing someone, even when other's can keep it together - because it just brings me back to the day that Seth died. It's ok to feel that way, it actually makes you a better person and good friend to those who are going through what you've already experienced. I'm sorry to hear about your sister.

Sometimes I have incredibly vivid dreams where Seth and I just hang out together - like we did when we were teenagers, just before he died. It's great because I wake up feeling like I've spent the day with him, but then I feel like I've lost him all over.

It may seem ridiculous to still be so affected after 10 years, but Seth was my best friend, I don't think I'll ever get over this. It does (as they say) get better though. Hang in there.

Well i have lost many people close to me. It did effect me greatly. Its normal to be so sensitive when someone so close to you dies. I have had 1 of my classmates die when i was about 9 almost a year after my grandfather died. A year after that my sisters friend passed away from cancer. So its normal.

yes I lost my mom and grandfather in a years time you do get over it but it takes time and it makes you appreciate other people in your life more like friends and family. You also tend not to take things for granted. Best advice is to start enjoying life because there is no promised tomorrows

Absolutely! This is normal though, so don't worry. Now that you understand what it's like to experience the loss of a loved one, you'll be more empathetic to other deaths.

First of all, I'm sorry for your loss. Being that you know how it feels to lose someone very close, you think of how it may feel to the loved ones of the Deceased. I think this happens to everyone.
