Can someone tell me the best way to preserve fruit rinds (esp orange) so they don't spoil and they keep their smell for sachets and ritual?

Also... what is the best way to use orange rind?

I always make strips and then dehydrate mine if you are going to use them for non food items later (can be used in food as well)
I have made those wonderful oranges studded with cloves- the clove oil acts as a natural desiccant and preserves the orange-wonderful smell
some of my fave ways to preserve certain rinds are making sweet orange marmalade or watermelon rind pickles

My mother used to "candy" them. They were soooo delicious that way!!!

As for using oranges for 'rituals': It depends on the ritual and what it's for. You may find this link useful in RESEARCHING the MANY ways the Orange is used:

Dehydrate them. You can put them in water at a later date and they will rehydrate.
