Stewart has five top fives in the eight races, including wins in Kansas, Atlanta and Texas and a fourth at Martinsville, and has racked up more points than any driver in the Chase.
If my calculations are correct, (assuming he was 10th to start the chase) he'd have 6190 pts which would put him in 1st. (The leader Johnson has 6157)

Momentum and self assurance that is so ordinary as that. formerly the chase Tony had no wins and replaced into suffering by out the three hundred and sixty 5 days then he comes into the chase and wins the first 2 races. Struggles somewhat, then starts getting solid finishes again and then wins 2 extra races in a row. even as your triumphing and doing solid and also you income 21 factors on the chief in 3-4 races and now there is two races to flow and your purely 3 factors decrease back you're gonna experience tremendous. about your self, your crew, each and every thing and that solid feeling turns into momentum and self assurance and then you observe that on the song with the way they have been operating presently and there finishes.

Why this question anyway? What if Jeff Burton wouldn't have had a bad 3 races? What if Kyle Busch was a good driver? (sorry couldn't resist). What if Brian Vickers hadn't pushed Johnson into Dale Jr? Who cares, it happened. Tony has no real pressure to take the million at 11th and can go out and take gambles with no real worries. Sucks that he didn't make it in but he didn't.

He would had been 1st and Jimmie Johnson wouldn't still have a chance to be a nascar champ but this time Stewart is not in the chase and Jimmie might win it this year.

yeah, even though I'm not normally a big race watcher, I did happen to tune in to see Stewart win and climb the fence and I heard the announcers say that if he had gotten that tenth spot he would now be leading the chase with his 3 wins since the chase started.

According to www.jayski.com if Stewart had made the chase, he would be first in the points. Johnson would be second down by 28 points.

No - if I remember right, he and his team have said that if they were in the Chase, they wouldn't have taken the fuel gamble at Kansas and he wouldn't have won, so all the speculation is simply pointless (no pun intended).
