Probably no one here has read these, but they're more interesting that one might think.

The Cat Who Mysteries. Written by a neat little old lady, Lillian Jackson Braun, since the 60's, as light mystery books. Besides having a main character and his cats, they are actually very well written books. The setting is in the upper Michigan peninsula area.

(Oh, and I too have read the Harry Potter series).

My favorite book is "A Prayer for Owen Meany" by John Irving. Its a little political but the story line follows the U.S. involvement of the Vietnam war.
