I am trying to share this information with a friend and I prefer secular (not religious) links with excellent documentation of their sources.

Thanks!

I suppose I should have said that I am not "anti-Christian". I am a believer in Messiah YAHshua. I am anti things that are not in Scripture.

Ok...go to your search section and type up: pagan origins of christian holidays. You will get pages and pages explaining how the dates and times christian holildays were chosen.
When the early christian church was establishing itself, it needed to attract the pagan poplulous. The easiest ways to do this is to first build their temples in the exact places where the pagan worship areas were. The priests took the garb of the pagan priests and priestesses, dressing in long robes exactly or as close to exactly as possible. The dates chosen were dates that were already pagan celebratory dates. This way they thought they would be more easily accepted. As you do research, you will find EVERY christian holyday is just around the same time as the original pagan one.
Don't just go to secular sites for this information. Research by going to pagan based sites. They will be more reliable when it comes to tracing down the details of how these holidays were begun in the christian church.

The origins of Christmas is not Pagan. You need to ask the proper question to get the answers. Yours is ant-Christian biased, I think.
