Christmas Day was actually set by Emperor Constantine back around 325AD. As for Jesus being born in December, there is and has been a very heated debate about that. Some will say in April others say August and some pointing to December. So. Just take the holiday and celebrate the birth of the Saviour.

the bible is clear that the shepards were in the fields when they saw the star of bethlehem.
the shepards would not have been in the fields in the winter.

the most likely time for this to have happened would have been either in early april or late september. noone knows when Jesus was born. but we are fairly sure that it was not in the winter.

furthermore we know that the european Paganc celebrated the winter solstice at the end of december. so it is likely that the church placed the holiday there in an effort to make their religion more acceptable to the Pagans and to win converts. the same can be said about Halloween(all saints day) being placed over Samhien. and Easter being placed over Beltane. even the pagan customs are alive and well in these modern christian holidays.

Actually, no one knows when He was born. Not an issue...Christmas still can be a season of rejoicing over the fact that God sent His Son to save all who believe. It's the greatest story ever told! Receive the greatest gift of all for Christmas this year. Receive Jesus Christ into your heart and life!
