I'd say Scrooge. Grinch usually stayed to himself. Scrooge for most of his life had indirectly tortured people through his horrible ways of treating money better than people.

If you examine the characters carefully, you'll notice that Dickens' character, Ebenezer Scrooge, was the inspiration for the Dr. Seuss character, The Grinch. Since Scrooge was thought of first, the prize should go to him.

Scrooge because he chose to live amongst people and make money from them whilst spreading his misery. The Grinch seperated himself from others and was content to be miserable alone!! Also, the Grinch was miserable largely due to being ostracised whereas Scrooge was just miserable!!

I would have to say scrooge because it was money and power that made him that way but the poor Grinch it was the people around him that made him bitter and twisted it was not his fault!
