that involves a little ingenuity. get a bungee cord...the ones with the hooks on the ends....and see if you can rig it to stay closed with it. i see cars with them on the trunks all the time when they are hauling something larger than the trunks capacity

I could be that your latch is already "closed", this happens sometimes on some types of latches, first of all I would try (opening it ) again with the key or release button! You can also look and see if the "grabber" on it is closed or open (this is the part that engages the loop or latch plate on the body (some work the other way around too (especially the ones with the release "cable"--by the seat - inside the car). .... If you have one with the "automatic pull down" (which is an electric motor running a little gearbox), you will want to check the fuse that goes for this unit, as it can get real "funky" sometimes!

I've had several GMs that did this regularly!
