matter to you and why? For those of you who believe it needs to be better, how far are you willing to go to improve it?

It doesn't matter to me at all.

Why - Because the world hates America, always have and always will. This hatred didn't start with Iraq or Bush (either Bush), it has always existed.

First of, I'm a Canadian.

To me, Canada's world image is very important. I apologize if I anger anyone, but I think Canada's usually viewed as the calmer, more peaceful version of the United States. And I like that view. Everyone knows that it feels good to be liked; its our human nature. And I want to maintain this image so that the world will know what a great place my country is.

With the US, I sure hope that you care about your world image. 9/11 was not a rash decision; it took meticulous planning and a growing rage - at the US' foreign policy. Most of the world (myself included) believes that the US is maybe too powerful, and power can corrupt the sincerest of us. Be careful to not get too cocky. In today's world, power is mostly dictated by economies and trade relations. So far so good. But don't upset the wrong people. The United States is powerful, but it can't win 192 to 1.

It is very important America's image be improved. Mr Bush threatened to "Go it Alone" on invading Iraq. It didn't happen exactly that way, just almost. The earth is not large enough for the USA to go "it Alone" There is a need for global cooperartion on establishing peace around the world, a global effort to resolve disputes and conflicts. We cannot lead or make significate contributions when the USA is distrusted and hated around the world. We become the threat to world peace.

It matters to me.
When our country elected Bush for a second term any respect that we might have held VANISHED! And people talk about our invasion of Iraq keeping us safer - that is just flat out stupid.
Many people have worked their entire life time to establish a solid respect and reverence for our great nation. ONE MAN takes us down to the bottom of the pit in less than 6 years - its sickening!!
Are we still a world power? If we are for how much longer? Does the average American realize that Bush sold millions and millions of dollars of our debt to China, they nearly own us. Republicans are supposed to be fiscally responsible and we have more debt today than is even conceivable.

As one small person what can I do to change world opinion of us??? VOTE, buy a Dixie Chick CD... and when I travel outside the country I will use my pretend British accent so that I don't get beaten up or killed.

every country is like a bulemic teenage girl. they all have image problems in one form or another. but to sit and worry about what others think is psychologically detrimental and ultimately pointless.

we just have to do the best we can and elect the best people we can and vote for the best decisions we can and hope things turn out well.

it should matter to everyone... go to wal-mart and see how much of it is made in America... or just go around your house and see how much of it is made in America...

like it or not, it's a global economy... and like it or not... in business, if someone doesn't like you, they can make it expensive on you (tarrifs, labor rules and much more)

how far am I willing to go? just be decent and try to treat everyone as we want to be treated (instead of like children, the way we do now)... it doesn't take that much effort... respect goes a long ways...

China was just in a huge meeting with African nations, because it knows there is a global grab for resources about to start and every continent will be important... and if you're viewed as a friend, it will help a lot in the end...

China is seen as reaching out trying to make friends... U.S. is viewed as someone who pushes others around and forces their actions... it doesn't look good for future international business relations...

We have democrats coming to congress in January. Therefore, our worldwide reputation will become MUCH better and more credible without a shadow of a doubt.

It matters to me not at all. Other countries have their problems too. They like to point at others for some psychological reason, that also doesn't matter to me. LOL

The US has never been popular with everyone and their popularity isn't dependent on what it does. Pakistan lives off our aid, but they hate us. Europe has always felt superior. There's nothing you can do.

It needs to improve.

I'd brush my teeth, comb my hair, and put on a shirt.
