Well, they may not be a real escalation of violence against women, but a better reporting of it, so it looks like an escalation.

because more religious fundamentalists of both the christian and islamic faiths are raising kids to believe that men are dominant over women., With the rise of fundamentalism in any religion comes suppression of female rights, because the rules they all follow were written by ignorant men who basically believed that women were mere property. More men are using force against women, and more women don't realize that they have the right to fight back. Its as if the 60's and 70's and the women't rights movements didn't happen.

I don't think there really is a rise I believe that more women are reporting it now. In the past so many women bore it in silence shamed by what was happening to them and thinking maybe it was their fault. Now more women are trying to get out of abusive relationships. I was one of those women it took me 25 years to get the courage to leave. He had convinced me that no one else would ever have me, he kept me from friends and family. I am so glad I finally got the courage. I have a great supportive loving husband now. I finally feel safe.

Because men feel threatened and rather than articulate why they feel threatened and try to deal with the feelings they seek to show they are not afraid by following the dictates of the primitive brain that says "prove you are not afraid, attack!"

There has always been violence against women. Sometimes you just hear about it more than other times. The violence comes from mens' feelings of INADEQUACY. Men: GET OVER IT AND TAKE OUT YOUR TROUBLES ON SOMETHING/SOMEONE ELSE BESIDES WOMEN!!!!

There isn't. It is just that more women claim it in order to gain an advantage in divorce and custody disputes.
