I'm going to tell it straight, the reason Harold Ford Jr. lost is because he's a person of color running in a generally exclusive and racist state. Besides the major cities such as Memphis, Nashville and Knoxville, he really never had a chance. Stay away from red states. Here's a couple of "upstanding republicans" from TN for ya :)

Im a white guy in Tenn and I would, just as long as he was a democrat. I voted for Ford on Tuesday really believing he'd win as all the other toss up states went dem..
I don't care about the race of the person running, I only have a prejudice against people with "republican" next to their name on the ballot.

Beats me! I'm not from Tennessee. But if West Virginia keeps re-electing a proud "ex" KKK member, I'd say they wouldn't.

Only racists would bring up so-called 'race' as an issue. If there are two dogs, and one has darker pigment in its fur than another is it no longer a dog but a different race? I cant speak for whatever race you belong to, but in my race, the HUMAN race, we are all just that...human. Only someone who thinks they are entitled to something because of the way they look would bring something like this up. Liberalism is, in fact, a mental disorder.

They would if he were a Republican. (In other words, Michale Steele and Harold Ford would both be elected if they were in the other's state.)

Race doesn't matter but by also being a minority I would vote for anyone by their views and standings!
