Because there can never be one side. People always need competition just to have something to fight about and to appose eachother with. It is sad but all of us have fallen for it and I never see it changing.
That is why we have 2 different major parties and why everyone is at eachothers throats.

If your referring to the British government then don't you mean why is the British public so paranoid? Don't believe everything you read or see on the telly and don't forget the priority of any democratic government is to protect its own people even if it means f***ing over other countries.
If your talking about more domestic issues then hey!..there human! there's corrupt people in all walks of life, at least MPs have to ultimately answer to the people, its the ones behind the scenes you want to worry about, like leaders in big business and the media, they answer to know body and have way! to much influence..quite scary really....lol now I'm sounding paranoid....If your American then you have my condolences (at least the guys entertaining)don't know about the American system but there does seem to be a lot more conflict of interest with big business than over here in the UK.....I may be wrong.

This is why we are supposed to have a very limited government. The founder's envisioned a weak government. Anytime people can trol money and power you get greedy this is why in the 40'-60's we should have put a stop to big government. insyead we let it expand. " A government that has the power to supply all your needs has the power to take away all of your liberties." This is something true conservatives once shared with libertarians. How ever as we have seen even those who say they believe this get caught up in politics and become as pro-big government as anyone else.

It turned into one big business. Corporations run this country whether we like it or not. Money, Money, Money. The only people who can be elected are the people with money and ties. This is the exact opposite of what our founding fathers had in mind. Not many people care tho because they are all lulled with tv and comfort items.

They may come. They do from time to time. I feel like conditions will be ripe for one in the years to come. Things may have to get worse first though. There's still good. I think the world just goes through cycles.

Because it takes the people 6 long years to catch on. Democracy doesn't work unless regular folks PARTICIPATE.

It's all about Lobbyists and PAC's. There are currently 35k +/- Lobbyists working in DC. How many elected officials work there? Not 35k I can tell you for certain.
