You put the numbers from least to greatest.
then you get to the number that is in the middle of the set. (it's easy to do this by crossing off the numbers on the outsides till you get to the middle)

Step A) 23, 25, 26, 30, 37, 39
Step B) 25, 26, 30, 37
Step C) 26, 30
in this case you have 2 middle numbers, so you average them (add them together, divide by two)
26+30=56
56 divided by 2 is
28
So yes, 28 is your median.

The median of a finite list of numbers can be found by arranging all the observations from lowest value to highest value and picking the middle one. If there are an even number of observations, one often takes the mean of the two middle values.
In the example there are an even number.. So the MEDIAN is the mean (average) of 26 and 30.. 30 +26=56
56/2 = 28

The preceding answers are basically correct, but the fully rigorous definition of *a* median in probability theory is that it is any value x such that the probability of the random variable being less than x is at most 1/2 and the probability of it being less or equal to x is at least 1/2. So, in this case (assuming of course that each of the given numbers is equally probable), not just 28 but *any* number between 26 and 30 inclusively is a median (this makes it nonuniqe but there are good reasons for this).

the median is the middle number of a definate set of numbers

in your case, you have two middle numbers because you have an even amount of numbers to find out the definate median (middle) take the two middle numbers, 26,30 add them together and divide by two to get an average. in your case, the median number is 28.

hint, if the numbers are all jumbled up, say you have 25 before 23 and 37 before 39, you have to put them in chronological order before you can find out the median number

hope this helps.

Yes, it is 28! The middle numbers are 26 and 30. Add them up and divide it by 2 which gives you 28.

28, because its the middle of the numbers, which is in between 26, 30, so 28

E. the biggest type will subsequently stay the biggest type, nonetheless its fee differences. The median is only the midsection get admission to, it keeps to be interior an identical place and on an identical fee. of course in case you double each and each type (A) or in case you advance each and each type by potential of 10 (B), you would be changing the fee of all numbers, such through fact the midsection type (median). interior the case of C or D, the place you advance the smallest or shrink the biggest, you run the possibility of shifting the entries place in the direction of the midsection, probable changing the median with a clean fee

1.put the #'s in order from least to greatest 2.the middle number is the median (if there are two #'s in the middle you have to add those two #'s together and divide by 2)

Fist put your numbers least to greatest. cross off numbers one by one from left to right. switching sides. so crossed off would be 23,29,25,37. SO 26 and 30 are left, add them =56divided by 2 =28 :]
