The release date of the final Harry Potter book has not been announced, but Rowling has stated that she is in the process of writing it; she hopes to complete it by the end of 2006, for release in July 2007(possibly around the time the fifth Harry Potter movie is released, for more information see below). In September 2006, she was nearly barred by TSA officials from carrying the handwritten manuscript for Harry Potter 7 onto an airplane due to security restrictions, but eventually she prevailed.[2] She said at the time she would rather have sailed home to England in a boat than be separated from the manuscript.
In an interview following the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in 2005, Rowling stated:
"Realistically, I don't think I'm going to be able to do real work on it until next year [2006]. I see next year as the time that I’m really going to write seven. But I've started and I am doing little bits and pieces here and there when I can. But you’ve seen how young Mackenzie still is, and you can bear actual witness to the fact that I do have a very small, real baby, so I'm going to try and give Mackenzie what I gave David, which is pretty much a year of uninterrupted 'me time', and then I'll start writing seriously again."
In a Christmas 2005 letter on her official website, Rowling stated:
"I have been fine-tuning the fine-tuned plan of [book] seven during the past few weeks so that I can really set to work in January (2006). Reading through the plan is like contemplating the map of an unknown country in which I will soon find myself. Sometimes, even at this stage, you can see trouble looming; nearly all of the six published books have had Chapters of Doom. The quintessential, never, I hope, to be beaten Chapter That Nearly Broke My Will To Go On was chapter nine, Goblet of Fire" (The Dark Mark).
A publishing director at Bloomsbury Publishing Plc. said in May 2006 that she hopes the seventh book will be released in 2007, even going so far as to say it was "likely".
Recently Amazon have offered an email notification service for its customers to sign up to which will email them once the release date is announced.

that is been rumored to be released on 07.07.07, because of the shown truth that the decision seven has an major magical magnitude contained in the Harry Potter books. J.ok. Rowing has not shot this idea down, yet I have difficulty believing it because of the launch date of the fifth movie. that is determined for July 13, 2007. If the e book and the movie were released so close mutually, there's a strive against for publicity. besides the undeniable fact that, i imagine that is probability-free to imagine that the e book will certainly come out in 2007. Liz Calder, the Director of Publishing of Bloomsbury (who submit the British variations of the books) reported in an interview that, "the subsequent Harry Potter e book is likely to go back out in 2007. i desire so."

I saw her on Biography earlier this year and she said she'd already finished all the books. She was holding the last chapter of Book 7 in her hands. It had to be locked up from prying eyes.
If it's not coming out til next year it must take a long time to publish her books.
Doesn't everyone die in the last book?

Rowling hasnt finished writing the seventh book, I think she is going to release it at the end of next year. But if she kills Harry, or Ron or Hermione, I will throw all my copies of the series to the garbage can!!!!!
